GYPSY RIDGE OBERHASLI
Registered rare breed dairy goats
These goats are one of six major breeds of dairy goat as recognized by the Canadian Goat Society. Oberhasli dairy goats are a handsomely-coloured, mellow and productive breed that were originally imported to North America in the early 1900's. They are not as large as some other breeds, such as Saanen goats. This fact is much appreciated when the owner is getting older and does not wish to be yanked from here to there by a determined lady! These beautiful goats have deep chestnut flanks with black leggings (the Swiss call them the “booted” goats), black facial markings and a black dorsal stripe and rump. The belly is black. If they come with wattles, it is delightful if the wattles are bi-coloured. Some black feet have a chestnut dot between the toes. How cute it that! |
